- Each Sample Deck enabled you to play up to four one-shot samples or synced loops simultaneously, but in Traktor 2.5 they were superseded by Remix Decks. These work much like Ableton Live's Session view, with each slot having a capacity of 16 samples. So, you can play four samples at once from a palette of 64.
- Traktor 2.0.3 offers a better support for the sample decks, if you use the Traktor Kontrol X1 controller. These options can be found in section Default Setups on the Preferences/Traktor Kontrol X1 dialog. Activate NI-Mapping for Sample Decks. If you already own a Kontrol S4 you are in an ideal position to start working with the remix decks.

Since TRAKTOR PRO 2.5.0, each Deck can be configured as a Remix Deck. A Remix Deck provides four sample slots to add a maximum of 64 samples and loops to your mix. All samples and loops contained in a Remix Deck can be saved as Remix Sets. These Remix Sets are part of the Track Collection and can be loaded to a Remix Deck at any time.
- Remix Sets from renowned artists: The full track, plus up to 64 of its individual elements – from drum loops and bass patterns, to synth lines, sound effects, and vocals. Loop and recombine these parts to rebuild and remix the original track.
- Remix Sets for the new TRAKTOR Step Sequencer: One-shot samples, such as single bass drum hits, snares, hi-hats, percussion, and effect sounds. Sequence completely new grooves and patterns, then mix them with any other track – all within TRAKTOR.

The Step Sequencer for Remix Sets is included in TRAKTOR PRO 3. It lets you add texture to your sets with your own unique sound using a Remix Set of one-shot samples. You can create patterns of any length across four individual sounds per Deck.
